ABOUT PRINTECH
37 years of print infrastructure, built one relationship at a time.
Printech was founded in 1989 in Mumbai, at the very start of India's computerisation era. Everything we've built since traces back to one belief: your brand is your service.
OUR STORY
Mumbai’s First Line Printer Service Provider to PAN India MPS Partner.
In 1989, when computers were only beginning to reach Indian businesses, Mansoor Patwala started Printech in Mumbai. Line printers had just arrived to print bank statements, share certificates, mark sheets and utility bills — and apart from the manufacturers themselves, nobody serviced them.
Citibank became Printech’s first client, and that made Printech the pioneer: India’s first non-OEM support service centre for line printers. Round-the-clock service built the reputation. Citibank, BEST, AMEX, Videocon and Raymonds relied on Printech when downtime was not an option.
In 1995, Wipro — then the sole distributor of Printronix line matrix printers in India — chose Printech as its first service provider for Mumbai and Thane. A one-man operation grew into a team of engineers, and within three to four years Printech had installed 1,000+ line printers across major banks and corporates.
Customers soon began asking Printech to sell them the printers it already serviced so well. Between 1995 and 2010 Printech became India’s largest seller of line printers, ahead of the OEMs themselves, and most of that business was repeat orders and upgrades. As HDFC Bank grew from 8–10 branches to 5,000+, Printech grew with it and became a PAN India service provider.
Then came a new idea: pay only for what you print. Printech began placing printers at customer sites with no upfront cost and charging per page, investing in the equipment itself. It was a hard sell at first, but customers saw their printing costs fall, and Managed Print Services took hold. Today Printech manages 5,000+ printers across India.
Our brand is our service. A single-printer customer matters as much to us as a 100-printer AMC client.
